ISLA SANTA FE
Located southeast of Santa Cruz Island. We sail to a beautiful bay with crystal-clear, turquoise waters surrounded by cactus and mangroves. We land on a white sand beach, full of sea lions.
... We then walk to a small forest of giant cacti that are unique Santa Fe, and an ideal site for observing this island’s native variety of the land iguanas. These coffee- and yellow-colored, dinosaur-like creatures feed on cactus leaves and flowers.
The meekness of the island’s wildlife is surprisingly. They do not fear humans. It is a great opportunity to interact with them and take unforgettable photos.
With our dinghy we approach the beach and carefully observe tintoreras (white-tipped sharks) resting near the shore. In the mangroves, Galapagos hawks are commonly seen.
The snorkeling is incredible in Santa Fe! Playful sea lions invite us to swim. We observe sea turtles, manta rays, a variety of colorful fish and occasionally sharks.
