Bartolome Island - Sullivan Bay
Departure: Tuesday and Friday 06:00 AM - Return: 05:00 PM
Attractions: Galapagos penguins, moon-like volcanic landscapes, pinnacle rock, viewpoints with a spectacular vista, beach, snorkeling among pinguins, sharks and manta rays.
Bartolome tower, the famous pinnacle rock, is the natural icon that identifies Galapagos to the world. We will walk along a trail through a volcanic, lunar-like landscape and climb up to the top of a 114-meter-high cliff to see the islands’ best scenery.
... A trail of 374 wooden steps leads us to the top, from where there are spectacular views of Santiago Island and James Bay. Below we observe an underwater volcano crater in which sea water forms a pool. A sandy, white beach surrounded by green mangroves contrasts with the lava rocks. The beach is a nesting site for sea turtles.
At the foot of the pinnacle is splendid snorkeling with Galapagos penguins, unique in Ecuador. The crystal-clear water is very calm and shallow, allowing observation of tropical fish schools and occasional sea lions.
Beautiful white-coral sand beach. We will walk along the path to a huge platform of aa lava stones, and observe one of the types of volcanic eruption that formed the islands. This is a unique geological experience.
