Plazas Islands - Punta Carrion
Departure: Wednesday and Saturday 07:00 PM - Return: 04:30 PM
Attractions: Sea lions, marine and land iguanas, swallow-tailed gulls, masked and blue-footed boobies, red-billed tropicbirds, spectacular snorkelling with sea lions and varied schools of fish
These are small, picturesque islands with rich biodiversity and extraordinary flora. A channel of clear water separates the two islands, North Plaza and South Plaza. On the latter, we land to observe the large sea lion population that will greet us with their cheerful gentleness. A few meters from the shore, a colony of marine iguana feeds on algae and land iguanas nibble on cactus flowers.
The beautiful natural scenery consists of a small Opuntia cactus forest, and a blanket of Sesuvium that covers much of the island, giving it a reddish color that contrasts with the lava stone.
Following the path, we reach the highest cliff on the island, a spectacular viewpoint for observing sea birds, swallow-tailed gulls, blue-footed and masked boobies, and occasionally tropicbirds.
Snorkeling, we will swim with sea lions, multicolored fish, rays and an occasional shark.
Located northeast of Santa Cruz Island, it is surrounded by mangroves at the foot of a cliff. It has a very quiet bay with shallow waters ideal for snorkeling. We observe coastal fish, and occasionally sea lions and sharks.
Lunch aboard the yacht. Return at 5 p.m.
